Samsung officially announced their first latest Unbreakable OLED panel!
Today, the Samsung sub-brand Samsung Display has demonstrated their latest products to the smartphone world. In detail, they have managed to develop an unprecedented “unbreakable” flexible OLED panel. It is worth noting that this component will appear in the upcoming Samsung phones.
In addition, the Korean brand has been certified by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Underwriters Laboratories for the technology.
According to Samsung’s press release, the rugged panel has passed real-time durability testing based on military standards set by the US Department of Defense. The testing process includes a series of tests.
The first test was to drop 26 times from 1.2 meters, and then perform high and low temperature experiments (between 71 degrees Celsius and -32 degrees Celsius). Surprisingly, the unbreakable panel continues to function normally, “without damaging the front, sides or edges of the panel.”
Later, they dropped the panel from a height of 1.8 meters, exceeding the requirements of the US military for its licensing company. result? Samsung’s unbreakable panel is still running with no signs of damage.
On the other hand, Hojung Kim, general manager of Samsung Display, shared: “Reinforced plastic windows are particularly suitable for smartphones because they are light in weight and have very similar light transmission and hardness to glass.”
When will Samsung’s unbreakable SCREEN panel debut?
According to the statement, Samsung hopes to use durable OLED panels for automotive consoles, mobile military equipment, portable game consoles and tablets for learning. We can expect many Samsung phones with this new technology to be available no later than 2019!
