Kawhi Leonard was born 29. June 1991, in Los Angeles, California, where he grew up. He is the last of five children born to Mark Leonard (father) and Kim Leonard (mother). He has four elder sisters. His father was killed in 2008 at the Compton car wash he owned.

High School Career

Before Kawhi Leonard was transferred to Martin Luther King High School in his younger years, he attended Canyon Springs High School. While he was in his senior year, Leonard led the King High Wolves to an entry 30-3 along with Tony Shell. After putting up a fantastic performance he was named California Mr. Basketball, He was considered a 4-star recruit by Rivals.com and in 2009, he was also listed as number 48 player in the nation as well as the number 8 small forward.

College Career

During his first year of study at San Diego State University in the 2009-2010 season, Leonard led the Aztecs an overview of the 25-9 as well as the Mountain West Conference. San Diego State University received an automatic admission to the NCAA tournament, but was defeated in the very first round of the University of Tennessee. Kawhi was the 15. general pick of the Indiana Pacers in the 2011 NBA draft, but was later sold to the San Antonio Spurs. His début season so he chose to take part in the 2012 increasing challenge and come fourth in votes for the Rookie of the year.

Kawhi also made 2012-All-Rookie-NBA first team. In its second season, Spurs have made it to the NBA Finals, but the Miami Heat denied Kawhi and San Antonio Spurs championship glory. But next season, the San Antonio Spurs have made it again to the Finals, against rivals, the Miami Heat. Kawhi led-San Antonio Spurs to fight the Miami Heat. Kawhi was awarded the MVP award after averaging 17.8 points with 61% shooting price.

Although Kawhi was fighting with a blurred vision he continued to play in the 2014-2015 season, but was ruled out indefinitely after having injections on his right hand. He returned to play 15 games later. At the end of the season, he was awarded the NBA Defensive Player of the Year award. Kawhi signed a five – year contract extension with Spurs in the 2016-2017 season. He led them on a successful campaign that earned him the Defensive Player of the Year award for the second time in a row and his first All-Star selection.

He secured his second NBA First-Team and All Defensive First Team for the third time in the 2016-2017 season. In 2017-2018, a season was plagued with injuries for Kawhi. He was also involved in disputes Spurs management over his rehabilitation. Kawhi does not grace the court for important periods.

There were reports claiming that Leonard requested a trade from Spurs in June 2018. Reports this came after months of tension between Leonard and Spurs over his injury rehabilitation. On July 18, Leonard was traded to the Toronto Raptors, along with his teammate Danny Green in exchange for Jakob Poltl, DeMar DeRozan, and a is taken care of 2019 first-round draft pick.

Leonard’s first season with Raptor was a successful one. Leonard received plays of the Week honours in December, as well helped the Raptors to their first NBA Finals.
