Kanye Omari West is also known as Kanye West is an American award-winning rapper, hip-hop musician, lyricist, producer, film director and fashion designer.
Kanye Omari West was born and raised in the midst of the Chicago family by his highly educated mother Donda West. He is married to Kim Kardashian West. He is gifted with creativity and poetry from an early age.
Kanye West started rapping when he was 7 years old and soon confessed to his mother that he wanted to record music more formally. When he was 20 years old, he decided to leave college and become a professional musician.
Kanye West mother supported him in his endeavor. He started out as a small-time producer until he met Jay-Z and produced his ‘The Blueprint’ for him. Kanye West was born on June 8, 1977 in Atlanta, Georgia to Dr. Donda C. Williams West and Ray West. His father was one of the former Black Panthers and the first black photojournalist ever at The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
His mother was a professor of English at Clark Atlanta University and also president of the English branch of Chicago State University. His parents divorced when he was only 3 years old and he and his mother moved to Chicago, Illinois.
Kanye West was raised humbly and belonged to the middle class. He was educated at Polaris High School in Illinois. He moved to Nanjing, China when his mother was asked at the age of 10 to teach at Nanjing University as part of an exchange program. He was creative at an early age. He wrote his first poetry at the age of 5. He started rapping at the age of 5 and composed his own music by the time he was in seventh grade.
West became more and more involved in the city’s hip-hop scene and when he was 17, he wrote a rap song called ‘Green Eggs and Ham’. He persuaded his mother to pay him money so he could start recording in the studio. Although his mother didn’t want this for him, she started accompanying him to a small basement studio in town. There he met The Godfather of Chicago Hip Hop, No I.D. He soon became West’s mentor.

In 1997 West was offered a scholarship from the Chicago’s American Academy of Art and he accepted it to learn the art of painting and then moved on to Chicago State University to study English literature. When he was 20 years old, he decided to leave the university to fully realize his dream of becoming a rapper and a musician. This really upset his mother.

Another song from the album ‘Jesus Walks’ showed West’s emotions about faith and Christianity.
In 2005 West collaborated with American film music composer Jon Brion, who produced many tracks on the album, to work on West’s new album ‘Late Registration’. He hired a string orchestra for the album and paid the costs with all the money he earned with ‘The College Dropout’. It sold 2.3 million copies in the United States.
In the same year, West announced that he would release his Pastelle Clothing line in 2006, but it was cancelled in 2009.
In 2007 West released his third studio album ‘Graduation’. He released it at the same time that 50 Cent’s ‘Curtis’ was released. The album would have inspired hip-hop music and other rappers to take more creative risks with their productions. In the same year, West announced the opening of 10 Fatburger restaurants in Chicago. The first one opened in Orland Park in 2008.
