The Lagos State Police Command  have arrested popular actress and activists Funke Akindele for allegedly hosting a birthday party at her home in Ibeju-Lekki during a coronavirus lock-down.

“The attention of the Lagos Provincial Police Command was drawn to a viral video showing large numbers of people mainly in the entertainment industry at an Estate, along Ajah, the Ibeju-Lekki axis, Lagos celebrating a birthday party organized by Funke Akindele Bello and his husband, ”Lagos State Police spokesman Bala Elkana said in a statement.

“Police detectives from Yaba State CID were promptly drafted to the scene. Funke Akindele was arrested.

“An investigation is ongoing, as efforts are being intensified to arrest the remaining individuals  and party goers in the video, and among them are other celebrities  Azeez Fashola a.k.a Naira Marley and Abdul Rasheed Bello a.k.a. JJC Skillz.

“They are in their best interests and encouraged to report to the Yaba State CID, Lagos State on Monday April 6, 2020 or risk is declared wanted by the police.”

Funke Akindele was born on August 24, 1977, in Ikorodu, Lagos Province, Nigeria. Funke is the second of three children (two girls and one boy). Akindele’s mother is a Medical Doctor while her father is a retired Head of School. Funke Akindele became a popular celebrity  after starring in the comedy show sponsored by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), I Need to Know, which ran from 1998 to 2002. Funke Bisi played a curious but highly intelligent high school student. Funke Akindele’s big break came in 2008 when he appeared in the film Jenifa.
