Daniel Bryan is an American professional wrestler and writer who is currently signed to WWE. His performance on the SmackDown brand is performed under his name Daniel Bryan.
In WWE, Bryan has won the WWE Championship three times and one WWE World Heavyweight Championship. In addition, he also won a single U.S. Championship, a single Intercontinental Championship and a single WWE Tag Team Championship. Part (with Kane).
From July 2016 to April 2018, he was also the winner of the 2011 SmackDown Bank Awards, the 2013 Slammy Superstar of the Year Award, and the General Manager of SmackDown. Bryan is the 26th Triple Crown and 6th Grand Slam champion in WWE history, covering several major pay-per-view games, including WrestleMania XXX.
Danielson had previously contracted with WWE (then known as WWF) for a period of 18 months from 2000 to 2001. Before joining WWE for a second term in 2009, Danielson used his real name and ring name (and later nickname) American Dragon to wrestle for a number of international companies.
From 2002 to 2009, he wrestled for the Ring of Honor (ROH) and was recognized as the “founder” of the event, where he won the ROH World Championship and the final Pure Wrestling Championship (combining the Pure title with the World Championship) . He was the first winner of the 2004 ROH Annual “Survival of the Fittest” Championship.
Danielson has also played extensive wrestling matches in Japan, winning the GHC Junior Heavyweight Championship at Pro Hrestling Noah and the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Group Championship at New Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) (with Curry Man). Between WWE, ROH and Japan’s promotion, he held a total of 11 championships. Danielson has also won numerous championships on the independent track, including two PWG World Championships, the FIP Heavyweight Championship and the wXw World Heavyweight Championship.
From May 2014 to December 2014 and from April 2015 to March 2018, Brian was injured or recovering. In February 2016, Danielson dropped out of professional wrestling due to medical problems (including seizures) caused by multiple concussions and brain lesions. In July of that year, he became the general manager of SmackDown after the brand extension. On March 20, 2018, Bryan was officially allowed to return to the team and returned to the team at WrestleMania 34 on April 8.

Danielson was born and raised in Aberdeen, Washington. He was the son of the lumberjack’s father and the mother of the therapist. Danielson’s sister, Billie Sue, has participated in various sports, including football, at Aberdeen-Weatherwax High School.

After Danielson graduated from high school in 1999, he decided to specialize in wrestling and try to train at Dean Malenko’s wrestling school. When it closed, he was trained by Shawn Michaels and Rudy Gonzalez of the Texas Wrestling Academy (TWA). He made his debut in the TWA competition and won the TWA Tag Team Championship with Spanky on March 21, 2000, defeating Jerome Sage and Ruben Cruz to win his first championship.

Danielson has not shown a clear personality for most of his career. He is popular with fans through his nickname, manners and wrestling ability, and his costumes are different. Part of his tenure was in short shorts, but he ventured to wear a mask in Japan as an extension of his American dragon role.

Danielson has cited a number of wrestlers as influences to his style including Toshiaki Kawada, Mitsuharu Misawa and William Regal. He has also made mention of modeling his wrestling on that of Dean Malenko and Chris Benoit in his early career, then using Brazilian jiu-jitsu as a platform to develop his own style.
In 2009, Danielson relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada, where he began training in mixed martial arts at Randy Couture’s Xtreme Couture gym. He was also roommates with Xtreme Couture’s head grappling trainer, Neil Melanson.
Danielson became a vegan in 2009 after getting elevated liver enzymes and several staph infections.In 2012, he was awarded a Libby Award from PETA for being the “Most Animal-Friendly Athlete”. In honor of Danielson, Mayor Micah Cawley of Yakima, Washington declared January 13 “Daniel Bryan Day”.
In September 2012, Danielson explained that he was no longer a vegan due to his inability to find vegan food while travelling on the road for WWE. He later elaborated that he had developed a soy intolerance and could not find enough non-soy-based vegan food, but he still keeps a mostly vegan diet on the road. On Twitter, he stated that he has vitiligo. Danielson has stated in his book that he does not drink due to his father’s past as an alcoholic.

In October 2012, a social media campaign was started in an attempt to help Connor Michalek meet Danielson, his personal hero. Michalek was six years old at the time and suffered from cancer of the brain and spine. The campaign succeeded, with Danielson meeting Michalek at the Consol Energy Center in

Danielson is a self-described environmentalist and endorsed the Green Party’s Jill Stein in the 2016 U.S. Presidential election.

On April 11, 2014, Danielson married WWE wrestler Brie Bella and has been in love with him for nearly three years. On April 6, 2016, almost two months after Danielson retired, Bella also withdrew from the wrestling match halfway in order to establish a family with him. After announcing the second WWE brand expansion, he was appointed by SmackDown Commissioner Shane McMahon as the new SmackDown General Manager in Raw on July 18. Bryan played a vital role in the WWE draft with McMahon, and the duo chose WWE champion Dean Ambrose as the first overall draft pick for SmackDown. After holding SummerSlam on August 21st, Bryan launched two new championships exclusively for the SmackDown brand-the SmackDown Women’s Championship and the SmackDown Tag Team Championship.
