Adele Laurie Blue Adkins MBE was born on 5 May 1988 and is an English singer-songwriter. After graduating from BRIT School in 2006, Adele signed a record deal with XL Recordings.
In 2007 she received the Brit Awards Critics’ Choice Award and won the BBC Sound of 2008 survey. Her debut album, 19, was released in 2008. It has gone platinum eight times in the UK and three times platinum in the USA.
The album features her first song “Hometown Glory“, written when she was 16 and based on her hometown of West Norwood in London. A performance at Saturday Night Live in late 2008 boosted her career in the USA.

Evans left when Adele was two years old and left her mother to raise her. She began singing at the age of four and claims to have been obsessed with voices.
In 1997, at the age of nine, Adele and her mother, who by then had found work as furniture makers and organisers of adult education activities, moved to Brighton on the south coast of England.
